Only the hardy anglers were out this week to find ice free lakes, a warm cabin and complementary tea and coffee at Sharpley Springs, big bags were plentiful with Trevor Wadds netting 14, Steven Fish with 12, Richard Landsbury had the top bag at 15 fish. D Storey caught two doubles of 10 lbs. making his total bag weight at over
40lbs.
Davey Shirrefs from South Shields caught the biggest double of the week a twelve pounder on the Doxford. The tag fish prize money is £750 this week divided between two tags.
Tactics: Lures and bloodworm imitations are the order of the day if fishing during a chill, which this week has brought. Otherwise black buzzers can as usual be relied upon. Diawl bachs and black pheasant tails are the pick of the nymphs, the former being deadly in the red or orange-headed variant.
Static buzzers or mini-lures fished static under indicators or a buoyant dry have seen their share of success.
Fly box; Black buzzers, Diawl bach, Black PTN, Flexifloss Bloodworm
Cat\'s whisker, Black/white/olive zonkers and Okey Dokey.

why not post the catch reports in here every week
im sure a few of us would like to see whats getting caught

Trevor Wadds,
I can guess the set up -

On the Point - Flexi Floss Blood Worm
On the Dropper- Diawl Bach

Cracking Lad and a good angler!

This is my ideal set up for those winter days when theres a nice ripple coming across you, cast out, floating line, one slow pull to get everything tight then do nothing and let the breeze carry the flies into the margins and along the shelf.

You can get allot of fish close in using these tactics, don\'t be in a hurry to get your flies in the middle of the lake, works very well at the bottom of the Doxford Lake right hand bank.

Cheers Yours for the report
