Shed/garage security.

Fair comment.
I was unaware of the fact you now have to have a Firearms Cert to have a cartridge, I asked a mate for a couple as I didnt want to buy a bag of 20 blanks. Think I will take a gamble on anyone calling plod and saying, "I was breaking into this garage officer and there was a big bang etc etc...

It is a shotgun certificate that is needed m8, a firearms certificate is different although they are all under firearms offences.
You don't need any certificate to buy proper blank firing cartridges or rounds.
The problem is that as soon as a shot is heard, people are on the phone and the armed response turns out.
If they find any type of cartridge or round that has been live and adapted, they will search harder and arrest the person concerned.

Just be carefull Hiram m8, I wouldn't like to hear of you or anyone getting done for a firearms offence for the sake of buying a few legal blanks where there is no chance of getting jailed, it's just not worth it.

honest officer he saw me and pulled out a pistol and popped a shot off ;);)

another one i'v heard of is wirering the shed door handle to the mains.personally i think thats shocking !

that is definitely a no no, i am an electrician and could easily do that, the trouble is that anyone grabbing the handle would not be able to let go as ac voltage pulses at 50 times per second, which would if you grabbed the handle firmly make every muscle in your body do the same including your lungs, you would die of asphyxiation within two minutes, even when you are dead your hand will still not let go until you turn the power off ,then you are in deep **** with a murder charge hanging over your head ,the other thing is what if you forgot to switch the power off [which happens] and a innocent like a young child grabbed hold of the handle , in my opinion it is totally irresponsible to post something like this on this forum it is extremely dangerous

Fair point I suppose dazzer.

We recently had a lecture on cannabis farms where the crims wired up the premises for defence-not only from the Police but also other crims.
Doors had the cheap shotgun things with live cartridges attached. Handles were wired to the mains and windowsills were made of cardboard with sharpened spikes underneath.
as to the law i know farmers use them. As to the public i would have to look into that.
Mick.

I gave up my shotguns and license 20 years ago, When i first looked into using these to protect my vans and garage, I was under the impression that you were only committing an offence if you pointed it at the door, in that case you could be prosecuted under the 1760 (circa) mantrap laws. I could be wrong, and in todays society these laws may well have been changed.
