Sheilds open

So much has been said, regarding 'suspicion' of cheating, and that proves
nothing,in fact it can even be attributed to jealousy.I suppose you could
have someone watched, during a competition,if the suspicions were particularly
strong, but even that would be difficult. You could add a rule, that if asked,
a competitor must reveal where they were fishing, but even this may not
be foolproof. The most damning indictment,of the said angler,if it is true,is
he refused a tackle/car search.I have happily allowed my gear to be
inspected, before a comp a couple of times,as in one instance,a pair of cheats
were caught, and banned for life.I'm pretty sure it's an accepted rule in
fishing competitions anyway. What should happen though,is if a person is
caught bang to rights, their name should be circulated throughout the
fishing fraternity, and they should be banned for life from every future comp.
In my opinion,once a cheat,always a cheat.

never mind competition cheating,im sure you pinched me jip when a wasON joker pier one nite, cos there was a size 14 footprint and a git turd aside me motor a got loaded wi crap ankle deep,LLLLLLLLLLLLOOOOOOORRRRRRRRRRRRRDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD ya rat :D

Aye,a mustard mitt that was me alright, the footprint off me six quid
George at Asda plimsolls has me bang to rights. If you'd had the sense
not to lock your petrol cap,i would'nt have had to bray a hole in the
tank for yer jip,all 50p worth. At least you had the sense to lock yer
drivers door, cos if you had'nt,you would'nt have stood in that big orange
cacky,you'd have SAT in the ba$tad....next time boy,next time.

Maybe its time to address the small print in the rules or even consider fishing for a throphy only and donating any monies to a worthy charity?.Not really the answer but action is required before these competitions cease to exist due to lack of intrest from true sportsmen and women.

Is it the Money or the Sport ?????? Biggest sport in the country with the least referees and enforced rules and regs: (: tighter boundaries, definitely more stewards, smaller prizes and a chance for competitors to challenge if they think wrong doing has been done. Let it become a sport again rather than a chance to those who would abuse it to make money and have the the suspicion of misdemeanour's being bandied about year on year and cast a shadow on this special NE competition. This is really something the organising committee really need to put their thinking caps on otherwise the SS open as will others be no more:(?Soap box moment over tight lines lads:red):

after the infamy of last year the judges may have felt uncomfortable with the prospect of more 'scandal' around the competition. this may have had some bearing over their decision not to disqualify him. the odds do appear to be against him.

id be interested to know if anyone actually saw him near the water on sunday.

it all smells a bit fishy to me

a lot of lads ive talked to lately were mentioning there comp days are over due to the likes of this going on,its sad:( anyway what happened to the cards you used to get and get the nearest anglers to sign it with time species where caught on these big money comps, ryhope used to do it ,icould be wrong but i personally cant understand anyone whos supposed to be a good angler fishing a heaviest fish comp going to a flatty mark when the seas away when you know the larger cod will be in good chance that day,atb plum

he didnt fish church bank, i was there. i got told jarrow park...

flounders from churchbank or some part of the tyne surely he would have caught a sizable codling or whting, plenty sizeable 2 catch,

all the more reason he should have caught whiting 20 flats with no other species from churchbank mmmmmmmm and using macky

as i said before, he didnt fish church bank.

there was small codling, whiting and flounders from there.

only one codling and a few flounders where size from that mark
