Shetlands Summer 2016

At this stage it is still early days.

I have fished Norway for 4 years now and decided on a change, the Shetlands offers a few different species as well as the normal ones but to a lot bigger size closer to home.

I am putting the feelers out as I would rather book the full boat or take at least 6 and have the majority vote for what fish for because I am told if the weather allows the punters get to vote on the style of fishing they wish to do.

I am looking for people that would be interested in wreck fishing and the deep sea fishing, targeting, huge ling, hake, turbot and of cause big cod, coalie and haddock.

I am waiting on prices for BnB and the boat but it’s looking at £100 pp per day for the boat and BnB, then ferry and car fuel costs, probably be £380 all in from my quick checks.

The plan would be to drive up to Aberdeen in 1/2 cars, get the evening ferry over to Shetlands and sleep the night on the ferry, land at Shetlands and fish that day on the boat, back to BnB on the island, next morning fish on the boat then back to BnB, wake up and catch the morning ferry home.


As I say early days but looking to take the majority of the boat or the full boat, I already have 3 confirmed they will go so looking for at least 3 more to take the majority or 7 to book the full boat.

That's a goer for me mate - could not give you a definate answer when you mentioned it last Saturday but can now. Hope the weather holds for this Sunday.

Chris the aim would be to travel up friday afternoon, fish sat n sun and travel home either sunday night or mobday morning. ..I would say you be looking at half day leave friday and full day monday really.

Ferry time table is not the best but points to a Friday 7pm leave Aberdeen and Arrive 7.30am for Sat morning for fishing

Cost for the ferry with the return and a "sleeping pod" so they call it as well as a car between 3 people is working out at £215pp but prob get it abit cheaper after abit more looking around.

So...quick update.

Based on 3 sharing a car so 2 cars

Travel up £25 fuel each
Ferry and return trip £120 each
Boat and BnB x 2 days/nights £220 each
Paking at termial £15 each

Total=380 before food/drink...not cheap but what fishing holiday/break is....you only live once, better to do it than keep talking about it i always say
