Me and mate fished shields the day at 44, got some cracking rag and lug from hebburn reelsport and hit the mark at about 10:00, can't believe that we were the only ones going on though it was a bit windy like:D. Anyway, me laden with cold and me mates arthritis kicking up we just soldiered on against the fierce NE coming at us:D. Lovely sunny day and nice to be out. Nothing doing until low water and up a couple of hours. We managed to scratch these critters out like-

first was this blotchy dab, can anybody tell me why it's markings are like this?

Then a bit better one

This is how to secure your rod rest in the wind like, elecy's tape:D

Then mate gets a couple fo canny flounders

Then there was another flattie, a ting and coalie

Finished of with another ting. there was only a couple of lads vetured along the pier today with their spinning outfits and they didn't stay long like.

Rag was the killer bait:D:D

Though no rod benders, I really enjoyed the day, we packed up at around 17:00.

A cracking session G.ordon m8t and cracking photo/s too and i dont know what those markings on the flounder are but i have had a few like that myself but all in all a good days work and it gets you out of the house too so well done to the pair of you.:D:D:D

Thanks lads. I still can't get me nut around the fact that no one else was out like.

It was the same Thursday mate, only 2 lads on the end and me with my spinning rod doing a spot of float fishing, it was as rough as a badgers whatsit like and defo not float fishing seas. But I thought what the heck I had made the trip anyway so gave it a go with nowt for the effort lol.

Nice session there gordon mate.

There some speculation over what causes those blotchy markings on Dabs, some its disease, others say its what they've been eating that cause it. Either way it doesnt seem to effect them, gives them a bit color differentiation at least! :D (Looks a tad rough and windy oot there!)

Well done on your productive session. :)

Aye it was mate but with the wind more or less behind us it was good for chucking, only had to give the rod a flick and yer out a ton.

D-A, long rough dab eh? never caught a one before, can anyone confirm this please?

i fished it on sunday mate first cast on the south east corner resulted in a codling of 2lb 5oz ,45cms long just skinny ,thought it was going to be canny ,then nowt for 4hours moved to the 44 mark ended up with 2 dabs 2 coalies and a rockling all small though
