the lads who net the beach have as much right (within the law) to catch as anglers do in my opinion. it might mean less for us to catch but they have kids to feed.

everyone winges about the cod stocks yet the still go to the chippy for cod and chips.

too many double standards when it involves a fish

90% of cod in our fish and chip shops are from Iceland, why is that again ? are yes due to over fishing. not just our lot but the Spanish, French etc I know. the type of nets these guys use on beaches snare everything and kill everything. just like gill nets which are another **** take. yes people need to earn a living but these same people don't think about the future generations who intend on making a living from the sea

as long as they are within the law, sticking to minimum size limits and declaring any funds made from the catch.

most types of comercial wild fishing has the same negative effects killing lots of unwanted fish, just the way it is mate.
i see tons of fish at work everyweek and i know where it comes from and also know that there is respnsible bass netters that work the shore line and take lots of mature breeding fish every day but what is more important a bass on out hooks or food on those mens childrens plate.

its not ideal but what is, do you think of the global effects when you drive to work or put your radiators in the house on.

i personally dont care what goes on because i cant change it and it dosnt affect me in any way other than less fish to be cought.

Do you know the people that do the netting pesonally or are you just assuming the have families to put food on the table for.

in all honesty i do not know if they have kids but they do have mouths that need feeding, its their job, they do it for money so will have the same bills to pay as the rest of us.

im just saying this topic gets talked about everytime the bass move on shore, most anglers hate it weather done legally or not.

too many anglers give the immpression that only they have the right to catch the fish, not saying anyone on ere is saying that, i was speaking generally because it goes on everywhere. its the same with the cod every winter and the usual "theres nowt there" "blame the boats" ect ect
any man who eats or has eaten fish commercially cought has contributed to an industry that rapes the sea for money.

im not incase anybody is wondering a comercial fisherman of any type

i just have a open minded outlook on the situation a realize that when done legally it is a tried and tested effective method of catching bass.

the lads who im talking about have had their nets slashed for doing so off anglers which i find disgusting to be fair, we wouldnt go onto a dock or quayside and slash a trawlers nets so why people think this is ok is beyond me.

the key issue here is leagality.

what i also find confusing is its ok to take large mature adult breeding fish but not the small juvenile's that have less chance of suriving till adulthood and then breeding. its the capture and death of these fish that are causing the decline i think.


but..... its all opinions fellas i may be as wrong or right as the next man

The top end of the big beach is designated for personal watercraft such as surfing. To me nets could constitute a hazard to surfers. Other than that it looks perectly legal to me even if we dont like it.
