fished shields beach 1hr down and 1hr up tonight, to try out a new rod

really like the rod, much lighter than my rt axe, and getting a lot more distance straight away. It was quite windy when i first got down there but the rod was ok, didnt move about too much.

christened it with old faithful, a shields beach flounder

not much action until the last cast, and this little codling

both on 1/0 pennel pulley and runnidown

was hoping for something silver, but happy not to blank; it was a nice night as well, felt like summer

Cheers mick and toonboy!

good catch what bait did you use??

Runnidown mate (gutted black lugworm). I tried Ragworm as well but nothing on that.

Thought that might have been your light at that end of the beach Andy:)
Glad you're happy with the new rod.

I was fishing the middle of the beach, next to the big hole. There was a couple of lights along the trow rocks end, and a light along on the rocks, possibly the black path.

Well done on christening the rod Andy. Defo will be easier to cast than your axe!! Codling looks a lovely colour mate

Cheers, it was a good colour, I thought it was a little Pollock at first.
