Well this for me is the biggest date on the calender, its not the biggest prize money but with it being my hometown open it is certainly the most important, its not all about the coin, its having your name on that trophy.
So whos fishing then? Usually get a good turn out and the pint is nice back at the New Crown even if i dont catch owt!
 
I'm fishing it Jamie. A little odd as like you said although never the biggest prize table being where I was born and bred still love to fish it. See you at the weigh in bud
 
fishing time 11am until 4pm
boundries groyne, south shields pier to roker pier (excluding roker pier and its foundations and the round end of south shields pier) if south shields pier is closed it is out of bounds uless open to public.
south side of river tyne- church bank, hebburn marina up to stone jetty (excluding fenced off areas), river police H.Q. jarrow river side park, mill dam, and littlehaven riverside park (walkway).all other river marks upstream of the groyne are out of bounds. Competitors are allowed to roam anywhere within the permitted boundaries.
1st prize £500 cash=trophy (heaviest fish)
2nd prize £300 cash (heaviest aggregate bag)
prize table over £2000
special prize for 60th place (century rod) with it being the 60th annual open

Hope this is any good il be fishing it. its the only open i fish now :)

the new crown is on the corner of mowbray rd right at the very end ,opposite gypsyes green stadium you cant miss it m8 ,good luck for tommorow.
 
good luck every one. i am fishing it hope there are some big ones lurking never weighed in for 5 weeks in cleadon club:(
