Anybody heard who / what won last Sunday?

Had a look down along the coast from about 1:00.

Started off at The Groyne - plenty fishing - seen no fish.

Along the little beach - about 8 - 10 fishing - seen no fish

Along the pier to the gate - LOADS fishing - seen no fish

North Row Ends - plenty fishing - seen no fish

The Wherry and nearby cliffs - lots fishing - seen 1 fish.

The fish was taken by a lad at The Wherry - I was some distance away taking a photo of the group fishing there - mountainous seas in the background - when through the telephoto lens, I seen the lad hold his fish up (he was getting his photo taken by somebody) - looked a decent sized fish, too - around 6 to 7lb-ish :)

chris stringer won heaviest bag with 4 fish for 13lb odd, you probably seen the heaviast fish tony cos it came from the wherry it was 7lb odd malcolm bell had it. :)

i fished seaburn beach, stuck it out for about an hour&half until the weed got too bad, moved further along too whitburn but it was just as bad, went to the little beach at shields for the last 1 1/2 hours, bait was,nt lasting 5mins. because of crabs. while going back to the car got talking to a bloke who had getting a small bass on the little beach he had also had a small codling, when he was reeling in, his rod bent over then went slack, when he got the codling in something had bitten a great chunck out of it. reckon it could have been a large bass.

i weighed in
1 fish for 10 10
not pounds
10oz10dr
hAHAHA
SEAN HAD 3 FLOUNDERS FOR 2LB
1 LAD RESIGNED HIS PLACE COS SOMEONE SAID HE CHEATED BY USING BEADS
A WHIP ROUND WENT ROUND AND I STUCK £2 IN
HE WOULD HAVE HAD HEAVIEST FLAT FISH AND HE HAD ABOUT 7LB OF FISH
BAD END TO A GOOD DAY FOR HIM

Tell me what would the rules say if you where to use holly berries (threaded up the line) and possibly the odd bit of sweet corn as part of worm or crab cocktail bait.

Who ever made the no beads rule is a pillock.

I agree, sequins and big red powergum stopknots! Well they aren\'t beads? ;)

TC Scott (BIGMAN) had 3 codling in 3 chucks straight away on the Groyne, mind you he only catches small ones so you can\'t be blamed if you never saw them! ;)

Fished on the groyne, roughly in the middle.I had 4 cod out within one hour and then it went dead. my weight was 4lb 4oz, so yes ant my fish were all small but they count. If you want the back rest let me know. cheers BIGMAN.

i think the rules said no beads or attractors
the lad in question was using them as bait stops
there was a right ding dong at the weigh in
the comittee were having a big debate
im just glad that they are allowed in our club
no argument then eh
i think it was some one with a jealous streak in them cos he caught more than his son
sour grapes i think

i fished the pier end on monday night and this was topic of conversation (i didnt get involved- as i didnt know what was going on ) so i listened to what was being said - the story goes that the lad was told a few times that beads were not allowed , but carried on using them, But when a steward came round (terry wood - if i\"m wrong terry my apoligies this is what was said ) the lad cut his hook snood and denied using beads - until it was raised again - i can only gather at the weigh in - the lads that were on about it on the pier are pretty reasonable blokes , and rules are rules -no beads or attracters- 249 other people stuck by it - so why did\"nt the young lad - if he wanted a bait stop a knotted elastic band would have done - but i think the main reason (my thinking ) is he denied using them ,when asked- THIS IS NOT my findings but the veiws of 9 LOCAL blokes who were all there.

i cant see a flounder seeing a bead up the river at jarrow anyway
what did you get on sunday brian?
was it 5-0
you got 12oz more yourself on monday
hahahahaha
i think a few sparks of jealousy were flying about on sunday in the new crown
i hope the lad goes out and wins it next year

Just to put things right and to stop all the bull*hit rumours, The lad in question was my pairs partner, he did\'nt realise about the bead ruling and was honestly using the bead as a bait stop when he was approuched by the complainent he thought he was just being picky as he had a bigger flounder than him, none the less he kept the trace intact to be checked by the commity,90% of the people in the room agreed that it was a bait stop but the commity had to disqualify him due to the rule of no beads aloud on your hook length, as for nobody else using a bead on a hook length lads came up to us and said that they also used a bead on there hook lengthas a bait stop.
As for him cutting the beads of when Terry Woods came round, that is another load of crap, Terry was\'nt a steward on the day, he was fishing next to me for the full match.

It just goes to show how a story can get distauted in such a short time when people without the true facts make there mouths go.

Good on Steve Tarland for having the idea off a collection ;)

I agree that the no bead ruling is a bit of a crap rule and it will be discused at the next AGM. Thanks

i was talkiking to terry today
someone is saying a prize went off the table and was kept to one side for the lad after the weigh in
some jealous people isnt there
rumour mongers
we know the story though

I must admit, as I use a bead as a bait stop on ALL my rigs, I would never have given it a thought that using one in that way would be construed as using it as an attractor. Had I have been fishing the comp, then I too would\'ve been disqualified.
Seems a bit harsh disqualifying the lad and the collection for him was a very decent gesture IMO.

Thanks for setting out the FACTS Simon.

Simon - there is a saying \"dont shoot the messanger\" - I POSTED THAT TERRY WAS A STEWARD - but also said in my post that if HE was not \"apoligies\" -you have more info than i ever did , so having a DIRECT DIG at me fine- Email me - READ my post -I LISTENED TO WHAT WAS BEING SAID - and never accused him of doing owt wrong - he was chucked out of the comp by \"The Commitey\" after a discussion- - I LISTENED TO WHAT WAS SAID ON THE PIER END - yes he used a bead on his snood ( rules say NOT allowed) - the rumours say he denied using the beads - CATCH 22. i did not fish the open so it means nowt to me - maybe the lads on the pier are not on this board- Who Knows.

A rumour is only a rumour when people who don\'t know the facts, go around telling everyone what they don\'t know, the lads on the peir were wrong and if they posted the info I would have not changed what I have said, but you coming on here and posting it is just as bad, the only good thing that has come out of this is that everyone knows the truth now and that can be the end of it. :D

the truth being if he had read the rules he would have had his fish weighed - but ignorance of the rules does not give you any help - so as your post says everyone knows the truth - he made a blunder by using beads and as you rightly say thats the end of the matter.

Nice 1 Simon for straightening it all out in 1 post. Sless that 5-0 dig was nastier than the whole thread you heartless erm well y nah ;)
Brian, well done on that 5lb, 12oz Codling u got on Munda, I was only jokin when I said \"twat\" ;) See ya\'s on Munda!
