Unlucky on the lost fish Jim, sorry I wasn't there to help get that one in for you:(.Two doubles in a few weeks would have been fantastic. Still you got a sized one out, more than most managed yesterday.

still it was great fun playing the fish could do that every day of the week

I lost a big Pollack from near the mark you were at. I was using a small Mackeral lure and thought was stuck on the bottom till it started moving. Got it right by side of pier and could see it clearly on the top of the water but knot slipped out of the lure and off it went. There was some metal ladder things on side of the pier to get down but being on my own I panicked and tried to lift it.
I have heard some people who have had big fish from about the 44 mark and walked right around the pier head to the steps.

id rather **** off every angler on the pier by dragging it round than try and lift a double like. it's sickening seeing a big fish swim off so close to landing it

hi lads,i lost a good fish on shields pier 30 years ago trying to hand ball it up the side...my dad made me a drop net out of a bicycle wheel and and some old netting with some hinges on it so it would fold in half,a 2lb lead on the bottom, when you consider how much we spend on rods, bait, transport it might be worth considering getting one instead of loseing a fish of a lifetime, just a thought chris
