shields pier last night

fished the pier from 7 til 10, only managed this little fella which i believe to be a lesser weaver. pic is off phone so poor quality. I was wondering if anyone can confirm or deny what this fish is, it also stung me if that helps!

That definitely looks like a Lesser Weever to me. Hope it wan't too painful when you got stung. Apparently people have different reactions to being stung......some hardly feel anything, others go through excruciating pain.
I have never been stung myself, but I would imagine it would all depend on how deep and how much poison was injected through it's spines into the 'victim'.

Smarts a bit aye and for a fair length of time. I wouldn't recommend the experience that's for certain and it's worse when you find out through some pleb kid swinging a fish over the rails onto the pier and into your arm, I'd have rather had the hook in me!!!

I must have been lucky, it stung at first but the pain only lasted 20 mins or so. the little bugger mustnt have got me properly!

Just googled the blinkin' thing and fatality is rare though sometimes there's respiratory failure and gangrene after being hit!

loadsa those little nasties on sand at low tide used tend to find them when i used to kung fu snatch for sandeels ..one guy i know had his mate pee on his arm to lessen the effect....when it brushed on his arm

Nasty little creatures, to deal with the poison immerse the stung appendage -arm/foot etc, in hot water , as hot as you can stand.

yes ,ouch,dont like the sound of someone peeing on me hand ,theres sites for that sort of thing.not sure if that is better than a blank mind

Lol would prefer to blank my self but its not just the amount of poison injected into the victim it depends on the blood pressure and what conditions they have will depend how severe the sting will result in
