Fished 44 the day and it started Ok with a canny flounder and then my first keeper plaice of the year (would have hoyed it back if it wasn't gut hooked):

There was another guy on this site that got one at the end but I reckon mine was bigger than his

Mate blanked but a guy next to us got almost a canny flounder a chuck on worm.

Got mine on crab at around 11:00 and was expecting a canny day but the wind kicked up and that seemed to Fu*k it all up.

Nice Plaice mate. Having never fished SS Pier, is 44 on the seaward side and is it clean ground. I fancy a go there, cheers.

Yer can fish either side at most marks on ss pier mate but at 44 the river side is very snaggy, the sea side of the pier is where I always fish and all you need is a 100yd chuck to get away from the kelp, lost gear etc. then it's not to bad, pretty clean in fact providing you can avoid the pots like.
