Shockleader help!!!!

Trying to put 60lb on my fixed spool reel, I tie the two lines togeather perfect, The shockleader winds on reel no bother, I lift bail arm and it comes flying off into a big nest! I've took some line off reel incase it's over filled but still flys off!!!! Any ideas?

What is the shokky mate? some shockleaders dont like to be wrapped up as they are too stiff, when wrapped on the spool they store energy and when the bailarm is released the energy is released making it fly off. You may have to use a softer shokky.

Anyone else got any other ideas?

It's warbird 60lb flexi shock, Got it off a mate. Do you reckon if I hoy a lead on and do few casts it may sit on spool better if you get me?

Had the same problem when i used f/spools. was told to shorten the leader lenth as i was overfilling with it, then hoy a lead on and do a few casts, seemed to solve the problem

better if you hoy it in the bin and get some decent shock leader

Dont put as much shockleader and use sakuma. I use to fish with fixed spool reels and had problems with warbird (Its nasty stuff!!) it's far to stiff. The sakuma is a nice soft shockleader and does'nt hod as much energy when coiled.

Yeah it seems pretty turd like no wonder my bud was giving it away. Never normally use a leader as I do most my fishing on river wear just thought I would give it a try. Ah well cheers for info

No worries. Chuck it back at your mate, lol. It's advisable to always use shockleader too as it takes the impact when casting and dont snap off and some poor bloke dont end up with a 6oz gripper in his head They say to use 10lb of shockleader to every 1oz of weight so if your using 5oz weights use 50lb shockleader or 60lb for 6oz weights and so on.

got some sakuma shock leader and having same problem, Soon as lift bail arm it's just flying off into a nest.

how much did you put on? i use to put on 1 1/2 rod length. might be advisable to take some mainline off first. dont try and lift the bail arm without any weight or it will spring off. thread the shockleader through the rod eyes but slacken your drag off enough, put a weight on and pretend your gonna cast by holding the line and lifting the bail arm but remember to tighten the drag again, lol.

length of shockleader should be approx, the length of ya rod plus 6 turns on ya reel, then the length of ya normal drop.
Use a decent leader. and make sure that ya reel defo aint over filled

It's sakuma leader, defo isn't over filled mate
