Well lads no fishing for me tomorrow,I'm out shooting all day I've joined a game shoot up wear-dale.
The quarry is pheasants, partridge, duck and woodcock.
The game keeper showed me over the land last week, what a wilderness with great woodland cover and heavy bracken for the game.
We running spaniels and black labs with the beaters what great dogs they are,I want a cocker but I've been told get a lab more sensible.:red:
Anyone got a opinion on a good working dog.?

Our lass is a bit of a dog,but she grafts sivven days a week ta keepuz
in tabs n lager,so she's a worker all right. If yer want a lend of her mate,
she's got her first weekend off in 6 month tomorra n sunda,an a dinnet like
seein er sittin about:D

mad as a hatter comes to mind, :D
but good craic,I didn't sell that left hander on,just a bit kid mate,Im busy in the shed working on same reel,I knew I'd sort it.:D

Relative of mine was heavily into the shooting game he had a black lab it was the most obedient and fearless dog I have ever seen not even a flinch when the guns went off never moved a muscle until he was told and whether the game came down in the water or wood he would always bring it back in same condition it was brought down in.

That's whats good about labs Mick, great water dogs, but spaniels are fearless, heed doon and go.
Its a hard decision to make mate,I want a good working dog but also a pet that would keep me company fishing and sailing and be a good mate, Iv'e got the time now to look after a dog now.

That's the thing a lot of people forget when they buy a dog they need a lot of time put into them to get the best out of them.ive got a border terrier and he's part of the family he's not a working dog just a pet but he's out at least twice a day for at least an hours walk each time and the rest of the time he's either in the garden or in the garage watching me tinkering on.

sorry lads yelow labs all the way for me:D:D:D
only because thats what we used when i was a young un;)
dont eliminate golden retrievers eithers eithers
but:exclam:i have heard lots of good reports about black labs:)

hope this has been helpful harry:exclam::exclam::exclam::exclam:

hi harry
i had a working springer very similar in markings to ians
i have never came across a more loyal dog!!
she wasnt for working just a family dog but you could tell
she was from good stock because she was very easy to train
and it was a bit weird having her stop at a bush stock still until
you said "go on then" next thing they would be pigeons and
allsorrts flying out if the bush:)
in my opinion springers are the most exitable and loving dogs
you will have!! shes been gone now nearly 6years now but we
kind of have her still in our 7yr old border collie that our
springer brought up so you do see flashes of our old dog in our
collie today:)
i wish you all the best harry mate as you will enjoy every minute of it I
think:)
