Hi Guys,

I'm brand new to the site, my background fishing wise has always been game angling, but I fancy a little bit of a change. I quite fancy doing a spinning or lure fishing from the beach for bass, I was wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction as far as what i would need gear wise and where to fish for them and the best tides or times to do it.

Cheers

depending where you live you will have to ask the lads closer to home for the best locations, i would advise bait fishing to start with, simple running ledger rig with around a 2-0, you can use a whole peeler crab on a pennel rig (2 hooks) or one bigger hook or even a bigger rag bait works well you may have to vary your cast as sometimes they are under your feet and sometimes you have to cast to the moon, a bass bite can be similar to a cod you will get a slack line bite or the rod will go mental, a good surf running is also a good way to guess bass are there with other things, generally feed better at first or last light, im starting to waffle now anyway hope some of this helps lol

Cheers boys,

I live in the country so my visits to the coast aren't that often, I would have ideally loved to fly fish for bass off the beaches' but I haven't heard or seen anyone in the North East doing that, I have some good spinning gear I use for salmon and trout, was just wondering if there were any bass hot spots or best lures to use...I all honesty I don't have the patients for bait fishing, as I like the roaming aspect of fishing, so any help is appreciated.

Cheers

Ant, doubt any lads here will let you know where their hot spots are mate... your gonna have to find them yourself I would guess. If you just bare in mind the usual bass tips you wont go far wrong baits / eels etc on sandy beaches or lures fishing along gullys or underwater structures ... a few decent spots along the coastline. Tight lines.

the bass malarkey is pretty secretive around here...apart from maybe a pm i doubt people will give you any marks on the open forum mate because they would get fished out straight away by either netters or the thousands of non members just looking for marks. they are normally found by people that spend years of hard work looking.... the other day driving to a marks as the sun is rising i seen a few people using lures over shallow reefy/rocky ground close to a beach, i can only assume bass fishing. hopefully someone will pm you with some better info mate good luck.

Don't want to sound like a numpty, but what are netters?

cobles who plaice there nets 100yds to 200yds from the beach as soon as there are any reports of cod or bass, thats why the guys wont give up there marks, but any of the beachs with a bit of surf can throw up a bass, but a lot of hard work required. deavy.

Been working on the boats with my new job and my skipper showed me a cracking bass mark, he lives there north wales and im defo going if I get ashore next trip
