shore fishing dominican republic

Hi Im off to the dominican republic soon and need some advice ! Has anyone fished this area or know anything about shore fishing this area ?

I was thinking of either baiting it with prawns and a small 3oz lead or using spinners (alot of websites say lure fishing is best over there)

If so could any of you guys recommend some lures/setups that would do the trick ?

Don't go shark fishing it's a con I paid £100 to go and caught nowt, spoke to a local and he said the sharks are miles and miles away, tried lures of the rocks one day and caught nowt so give my rod to the locals and went back to drinking all day on the beach

lol... I wasnt planning going on a charter boat but thanks for the warning

Im sure i could drink on the beach with a line in the water though

Can't remember what part we went but there was a reef about 500 yards out so can't imagine big fish can come In past that. Aye just fish off your sun lounger lol

I haven't fished there but I have snorkeled off the rocks and there were loads of small colourful fish close in, it was like swimming in a tropical fish tank. You should get good sport using small hooks and baits at short distance on a ledger or float. Maybe try a size 6 or 8?

size 6 or 8 hooks ? Guess i was wrong thinking a 1/0 then

Went Marlin fishing there and hooked a marlin but sadly it got off. spent the rest of the time on the boat drinking beer, rum and chucking up! Great day.
