Shore fishing in Iceland last June

Took a trip to Iceland last June ,fished the far central North around Akeyuri with Steve Mason a Cullercoats lad who lives out there now.I made a 30 minute film out of it taking in the journey, the fishing, the filleting factories and the general crack including projectile vomiting of buried Greenland shark. We caught over a ton of fish between the three of us,as you can imagine quite an experience. If you have the time ...enjoy!

Thanks Ozzy....save up mate, took me 34 years..ha ha,anyway word to the wise theres easyjet flights to Rekjyavik for 80 quid coming soon..hold tight

wow gunna have to go in the next few years once i get people to go with! is it much gettin all the gear over there? i like how your just fishing off a jetty with light gear and gettin fish many of us only dream about

Steve Mason provided the rods, its not worth taking your own gear as he has a lot there. You have to take your own reels and rigs though. The rod thing is as much about the 6ft rule that the airlines have, not many beachcaster/pier rods break down to under 6 ft.We used mostly bluey and when the shoals came in it was like the Somme...in a good way

great video mate somewhere i have always fancied for the amount of fish there but cost and travelling has has put me off

Not sure if this 6ft rule is new? when i was there 3 years ago i took 14ft rods in an 8ft tube, the tubes aren't weighed and mine was stuffed with sinkers, shocker etc.

If your going i would advise on packing a light rod, i had fantastic sport with a spinning rod using shads. Mates were there last year and caught some monster coalies on the float up to about 14-15lb.

Its an incredible place, wonderful to come in from fishing after midnight and the sun is just hovering on the horizon, jumping into the hot tub, cold beer in hand and looking out over the fjord.

Dont forget to pack plenty of elastic thread for tying your blueys on, i went through 4 spools in a week.
