Going on holiday to one of the Maldives islands, cannot remember name at moment.
After watching the Fishermans Diary on Tele I intend to do some fishing from the shore. Has anyone done this and do you have any advice, type lure, bait etc.

Regards

Poppers and shallow diving plugs are all you really need .
Most fish in the tropics will take them.
Use strong quality ones as the fish will destroy cheap ones.
Have a look on Youtube, theres loads of vids on there.

Watch pighunters video what the guy says is true.me and the mooses went for her ***##eith birthday to hudhoranfushi, couple of years ago and when I asked about beach fishing at the reception desk the guy nearly fainted . apparently the whole of the maldives is a national park and you can't fish off the shore.if you do there's big fines and big trouble!so I was told.if you wanna fish you gotta go outside the reef of your island on a boat and do it.it ain't a cheap trip neither, it was gonna cost me close to £140 for a 3hour trip.an hour out an hour fishing and an hour back! Never went, stayed on the beach and watched the fish swim by.

Thanks all for the info.
My dreams have been shattered and the wife said never mind you can keep me company.
The Tele programme Fisherman's Dairies did not mention any restrictions. lol.

I went boat fishing when I was on my honeymoon ... Paid £75 for an all day trip which included a beach BBQ with the boat crew who cooked the fish we caught back on the Island we stayed on.... Certainly nowhere near 140! Lol. I thoroughly enjoyed it... I'd defo recommend at least asking at your hotel about it. Had a fairly large open decked boat with 6 people fishing... Had 10x more room than you get at the end of shields pier lol. Pottered about the different reef drop offs catching all sorts of reef fish and a black tipped reef shark! As mentioned above though, it sounds like the experience you get depends on how good your hotel and what they offer. If your paying all that money to go to the Maldives though, what's an extra 75 quid for a cracking day out!?
