Should I back the braid with mono ?

I just got a surfblaster 8000 and have 40lb braid 0.28mm . The spool says 300m @ 0.18mm should I back the braid with mono ? Or is braid straight through with a shockleader fine I have 275m of braid

You will need to put mono on the spool first anyway as the braid will slip if you don't. Do not put too much on though, your braid should be filled to a couple of milllimeters below the lip of your spool if you fill it right up it will knot up as it comes off during casting.
