countless times iv been fishing in the tyne and the fish have came up with shrimps hanging out there mouths, (mainly the whitin). has anyone fished with shrimps? how difficult are they to get hold of and cost? i rekon it would be a killer bait up the tyne if thats what their actively feeding on.... it must be full of em.

Got a mate who uses shrimp and prawn all the time and he always seems to catch, mainly whities and flatties, think he buys them from morrisens fish counter, hope this helps mate.

must admit that most of my codlin when gutted have been full of shrimps regardless of where i have caught them (must be easy food), it's maybe worth having a look around the Chinese super market or something they tend to sell stuff like that at a decent price.

buy mine from asda shelled and raw. have landed bass whiting and codling . use it to tip or a few on its own . its good but costly ....rather use it in a stirfry for what it costs

i gutted a whiting the other day and found a undigested shrimp in it. decided to use shrimp on hook as bait. too my surprise that same shrimp caught a coddie for me. hows that for shrimp appeal.:)

many a time i have had cod and certain feed coughed out from fish and tried it on the next cast ,small dab ,flounder ,shrimp ,etc and never had out on it ,but the good old lug half digested did work funny old game isnt it :)

can we drop net shrimps up here?

PRAWN AND CRAB DROP NET | eBay

not sure on what the catch rate is like but i seen them doing it on a christmas cook programme where they tied a mackeral to the top and drop this net in the water, deep enough for shrimp but not for crab ,and they were pulling up a nice ammount of shrimp.

I made on a few years ago, out of an old broom, the longer headed one, grafted a wire hoop & an old onion sack to the brush part, (cut the bristles off first ) went "trawling" along the shallows of Whitley Bay beach caught quite a few through the summer & used them for bait , diddnt catch anything though, never thought about freezing them & keeping them back for winter,ON the boat thats all we use cooked prawns shell on, about a quid from Morrisons, then whats not used is on the plate with the fish we caught with them, Its a no loose situation
