i know you are wanting north of the tyne, but the pedestrian tunnel isnt too bad, jarrow side. turn left out of the lift and its snag free from the 2nd green bench. well ive not snagged there.

I find that smiths is only snaggy on the ebb and even then its not that bad.

Theres plenty holes in the fence, best way is to go down the stairs and turn left.
