wondered if any of you lads ever fished torness power station/dunbar or even barns ness right next door, we camp there a lot , very rough ground near the light house , just wanting summit to hoy on the barbaque without too much climbing around, would i get any mackie, any comments welcome, thanks in advance,

worked there many moons ago, used to fish behind the station for bass and mullet with plugs, spinners floats etc in summer. In Dunbar if the bridge is open you can fish over the back for poddlers, used to be a good size, crab & mussel good baits, haven't fished there for few years so couldn't swear to what it's like now. Nay harm in givin it go like.
 
i thanks for that, havent really seen many fishing all the times ive been, looks a belting bit of coastline though , i,m just wanting to wack something out from the beach as its 2mins walk from our campsite ,

Hi Glen, any deepish water should give you Mackerel, torness should give you bass in the surf. Should be plaice about too mate.

much appreciated, and yes you do get plenty surf ,deep water will problebly have to be back of the power station, most of the area is mainly flat rocky ground and beach,

Plenty marks to try there Glen.

Go down the old road to Skateraw Harbour, park up on the L/H side and head out on to Chapel point. Fish it over LW and cast back towards the beacon point at the power station. Theres some realy rough ground here and we have had plenty codlings from this mark in both summer and winter.

If you want mackerel, fish from either beacon point on the dollies or the North helipad over HW. There's plenty Pollock round the dollies as well . Take a spinning rod and some jellies.

Don't go near the dollies if it's wet, but in dry conditions , if your carefull the fishing can be very good. Plenty good Wrasse fishing from the same marks as well.

Mullet and Bass from the HW outflow at the power station, if you can stand the plebs with there post sacks, slaughtering all the schoolies. The Mullet are better sport anyway, get there early and chuck some bread in before the Bass bandits arrive. You will see some cracking fish but they are a nightmare to hook.

Head down the beach at Thornton loch for a flatty over LW. Flounders, Bass, coallies and the odd Turbot should also put in an appearance under the right conditions.

I worked on the power station while it was being built and use to take my gear from time to time. Every time I fished the beach to the right of the station I caught plenty coalies but never had much success off the back of the Dunbar harbour.
 
just read your reply lads, some great info there, i did have a go of the rocks near where you said niel , but very snaggy , will give it a go again next weekend

I'm of to fish torness on Sunday, anyone who can advise on what bait to fish with on what rig and what kind of lures work best in that area ...... i am not fussy what I catch as long as it's a fish. Any help much appreciated
