Had a trip down with three other anglers Ian ( Chut) Ainsley , Gary Pye and Ian Peacock. Had high hopes for some Smoothound action for a couple of days but turned out to be exact opposite. Gary and Ian P managed a couple of flatties and that was about it. Conditions were totally against us with big seas. Thought one of us might get a Bass in the surf but no luck. Still that's angling. Plus point is weather was glorious, and the lager in the pub was lovely.
Tight lines Mick.

He was casting miles out. We all had fresh crab but when conditions not right there is nowt anyone can do. Gary did best out of all of us with at least three flattys.

at least you gave it a go mick could of been the opposite and loads of fish if gary,s not getting them they were obviously not thier

All good things come to an end eventually.....the fishing down there this spring has been nothing short of amazing, they have had the biggest run of spring thornbacks for probably 30 yrs, smoothounds upto 20lb and a shore caught tope of 40lb, the boat lads are having a bonanza when they get out with some bass fishing that would get even the Irish lads excited. It usually starts to tail off in July and August though, it would be great for those lads to get some decent winter sport this year as there has been literally no cod run for them for 5 or 6 years. Great to hear and see and also great that via forums like this visiting anglers get the chance to experience some of those red letter days, just a shame that when you travel it doesn't always end in glory, but as said there is always a pint and some banter to be had regardless of the result.

Unlucky on the lack of hounds lad's,it's the same dwn here at the min, been qt for a couple of weeks, doesn't stay settled for long enuff:(
Cheer's for the great read chaps.....
