if you do fish the slate bed not far east (south) from the pier in your link please be careful cos me and my dad fished there not so long ago and were nearly cut off. the depth of the sea is very shallow (i walked around 500 yards from the cliffs and was only upto my knees) and goes out for ages but when the tide turns it come in really fast.
i stongly suggest you go down at low water and again at high tide so you can make your own choices but please be careful cos if it is the mark i fished it can become dangerous.
did it say in the sea angler when the best time to fish it and what bait fish well our lass has through that issue out she say its febs and you have read it so all her magazines are in the bin.
