Me and dave hayley Fished slaty gut and the hole next to the bears back on tynemouth beach. we started off at the hole next to the rock for about 20 minutes without a single bite so we headed onto slaty gut to fish on for the rest off the match. first chuck Dave got a canny knock and reeled down and fish was on however as he kept his rig on from the beach the fish bent the 2/0 out and he lost the fish;). after that we struggled to get any bites until i went to bait up another trace and Dave shouts over saying i had a slack liner anyway struck into air. finally Dave on his second last cast got a few coaley knocks and landed a 12 inch coaley.
Anyway pleasant night out apart from a blank but who cares when your,e learning to fish a new mark. Thanks Davey for letting me tag along with you and showing me all the marks along the beach overall a good session apart from the lack off fish

Well done!

Well done!

Good effort! The beach has been very kind to Kieth and I. We had Codling in good numbers from late August and September! The biggest bag was from Stoney Bottom skeer. Fish were taken from approximately 20 yards. Unfortunately, neither of us had the big un' we were "expecting" this winter!
The Bears has been the most productive mark for us throughout all conditions.
I have heard of some cracking fish from our local marks but I haven't heard of any big un's from Tynemouth this Winter (may have missed it).
Reference your mate losing his, I would always reccommmend a rotten on the Northern marks!
Well done on venturing out lad's!
All the best, Wayne.

cheers mate and the bears looks a canny mark . its amazing that there are so many marks and holes all in close proximity of each other which i am sure will hold fish, just not tonight. also it wouldnt of made a difference if he had of used a rotten bottom as he was just pumping the fish in and the hook bent out

No bother!

No bother!

I have spent a lot of this year "learning" that beach! I love it! You'd be surprised what it has thrown up! I love all of my local marks. I only fish the beach and rock marks. I am not out tonight as I am having a "first" boat trip tomorrow on the Sarah JFK. If I'd been out tonight it would have been on North Crab Hill. I couldn't get on the last two sessions. I have just read that a lad got on there tonight with it being a 0.8m LW and he has had a few Cod! The Slatey has to be a good shout with all of these SE and they're increasing! Poor lad on the loss! I bet he was cursing! I'd be back down there after it if I was him!
All the best, Wayne.
P.s. If you have any questions about the beach, drop me a PM!

I take it you mean barge bottom Dave. now there's a mark that rarely fails. i think you may have tempted me out of winter retirement to give that mark a go. oh the memories. fished it last time out and blanked but in fairness everybody was blanking everywhere at the time
