Crews report this week…

A meet up at the RQ at 0430 – oops hang on, let’s make that 0500 as the skipper slept in  :D – saw us on Slinky and out the gates about 15 mins later.

We knew it would be windy and we knew it would still be a few degrees colder than it perhaps should be for the time of year but good fortune favours the brave (or so the saying goes)

On top of the skippers uncharacteristic tardiness was my own preparation for the days fishing…I was still in Jesmond on the pop with peeps from work a mere 4 hours before the traditional Slinky alarm call :red: maybe this was a sign…

Liket’is often said though “you’ve gotta be in it to win it” so it was a yawning crew and a tardy skipper that headed out and beyond the piers at 0530 on a rather brisk Saturday morning :D

Did I say brisk? Gee Whizz! Talk about understatement…Subo herself was ringing in my ears as we met the North Sea (think about it...;) )

Hoolie winds from the south and a biting chill it was decided to head towards the source of the weather with the view that the worst of the travelling could be achieved early on and thus making the journey back to Port – heavily laden with spring run cod – that little bit more comfortable.

I don’t know if you’ve noticed but this report is very wordy so far and has very little fish action…the reason for that is clear…there was no fish! Unless of course you count the Souter Scotchie!

This is my first fish of 2013 – I really hope that isn’t a sign! :(

We chalked up a few miles but to be honest that wind was sapping the will from us. If there had perhaps been a Cod or two we would have stuck it out…but put it this way I was back in the house by 10am! And I like to think that Team Slinky rarely gives up!

Hey Ho…back to the weather watching…things have GOT to get better!!!

A few pics of the day…

Morale still high up to this point!

it certainly isn't a muzzie...I'm not an 80s throw back :D You'd have seen a full face of fuzz were it not for the wind!

You mean the wind was strong enough to blow the whiskers off your chinny chin chin :o

Nice report though Tony, that " lumpy sea" looks really uncomfortable :hallucine: I'm looking forward to some calm seas and sunny days , bound to get one before Christmas
