weather forecasts vary , but all in all predicted a westerly windy day ........... wow they were right !
set off early after pre-registering for the Ian Woods Boat Comp.
No uncertanties we steamed straight out, 8 miles
was a bit lumpy as the forecast said but no more than "uncomfortable"
Tried a new "tactic" today lol but it didnt seen to work much

well tried tone and steve (and me)
cabin boy Tone took the bait bandit role and fished for mackerel ........ whoooo hoooo about 30 I believe (or was that 32 I hear !) well done mate ....... wasted 90% on new tactics but never mind ....... theres always a cabin boy at hand to replace the stocks.
wreck after wreck we tried but a bit hard it was not a lot to show in the slow neap tide.
the sea was big but not too big, seemed we got what most people pay for at fairgrounds, good, high intensity rides

fish came in fairly slowly and we thought maybe today as not a good catch day, but as the day wore on ..... it changed, fish started to bite (whoo hooo), came across a particular wreck and stayed there for the duration ............. what a belter .....
Then ...............................
the Déjà vu moment .....
I remember a year ago in the Ian Woods Boat comp in the last hour picking up the fish of a lifetime a 17lbd cod , clean, sandy colour and "BIG"
then there it was again this year , another big cod (15lbd this time not 17) in the last hour of the comp

anyway , earned me 3rd place
Great day out, thanks to Tony and Steve ......
catch was ...... wow I`m not sure but all fish were over 4lbd and we got about 12 ........
..... and the big un !
fantastic day, the sea was kind and gave us thrills .......
video to follow ...........
stills of the day
Cabin Boy catching Mackerel
My first Codling
We cycled our filleting knives today ..................................
unfortunately steve forgot .........
Steves first cod (although by the lines attached we could of all claimed it)
Finally, my big cod, 15lbd at catch (14lbd 13 oz at weigh in)

enjoy
