Slosh 30

i have a problem with my slosh30.
it has started to do a funny thing recenlty.
the switch that engages the free spool is buggerd, wether the thing is on free spool or in the position that should allow you to reel in, the spoll is always free. you can always pull line from it no matter what position the switch is in.

you can even cast with out disengaging the spool, although the handle still turns and would wrap the fook out of your knuckles lol

any ideas or solutions?

cheers

i have had it apart mate.
at first i thourght that something had maybe moved or disconnected inside for the switch engagement. i gave it a good clean and oil but it still did the same.

the shaft isnt damaged or snapped.

its an old reel but its been looked after, tatty but does (or did) its job well.

just got me baffled, didnt know if anyone has good knowledge of these reels or has had it happen before?

dont really want to go a new one if it will be a simple fix, i love the reel as well.

The same thing happened to me when i took mine apart quite a pain trying to get the clip(clutch spring) no 31 in the diagram in that link back into the right place, thats the small clip what sorta controls the lever so you can click it into free spool/non free spool. Once that comes outta place or falls out the reel stays in free spool,me thinks thats what has happened to your reel mate.

Once you put it back into place that should be problem solved if its the part am thinking of. :)

Hi Bozjc,

I had the same thing happen to me in the middle of a fishing session. When I got home I took the reel to bits and discovered that the "grub" spring (holding the pawl in place) had become disslodged. It was quite a staight forward proceedure to put it back in place, but I also covered it in thick grease to help keep it there in the future. This has worked for me so far (touch wood). Assuming you still have the spring, you could maybe try this.

Hope this helps.................BAZACODBASHA

cheers lads,
i had a look at it when i got in tonight, but too pished to see properly haha.
you can backwind when the switch is engaged to the reel in position.

i will have a more in depth look tomorrow. i miss this reel as its my fav (even tho its a bit battered) haha

thanks again for the links and info
