Why cant i cast with my slosh 30 im pretty new to the sea fishing game and have a fixed spool reel last summer i bought a powerplay multiplier and have had no problems at all ! So i purchased a better multiplier the slosh 30 but even with the brakes fully on i still manage to wrap it up ? Where do i go from here ?

Phil, are you getting over runs, if yes then you need to take left side plate off and put one red blake block in.
if over runs continue then add another .

hope this helps

If you've got it set up tight with the tension control you will get problems mate. slacken off so there's a slight movement in the spool from side to side.

Yea it seems to happen mid flight ? not as it impacts which i would slow the spool down anyway will give the above a go
Thanks Phil

As said check you've got brake blocks in - the Slosh's are notorious for being shipped without the blocks in place. I'd also hoy a couple of drops of car engine oil (mineral, not synthetic) in the bearings and think about only filling the spool to a few mm below the lip. All these will tame the reel and make it much easier to cast.

After this try to keep your cast smooth rather than jerking or snatching in an attempt to give it a bit of welly - smooth and progressive beats thrashing and whacking to cast a multi every day of the week

And as gordon rightly says slacken off the end caps until you have the slightest hint of side to side play in the spool then leave well alone. Tightening them right up is a recipie for a knacked reel thanks to a bent spool spindle.

Plenty of good advice above...only thing I would add is maybe you could strip a few yards of line from your reel? I don't know what breaking strain / diameter line you've got on, but you mention it is fluffing mid cast - might be that as your sinker is slowing down at the top of it's arc that your spool is trying to throw off line a bit fast. When new-ish to multipliers it often helps to under fill the spool a little. With a slosh 30 I wouldn't use line less than about 0.45mm diameter, or around the 25lb mark.

Gary :)

Thanks guys had a fiddle tonight and it looks as though i have no brake blocks and there are none in the box ? any ideas where i can get them ?
regards Phil

about 3 mm should do, but double check with someone else.
If not tackle shops may have them in store I know Lewis Tackle in Whitley had them in
