Can u get these reels slosh 20 or penn 525 with levelwinds or can u fit a levelwind ?

I like the reels but when fishing over the rough I dont like messing about thumbing, thats why I use a fixed spool, a slosh or penn with a levelwind wouls be great, if this isnt possible are there any other reels that would do the job?

I\'d learn to thumb mate, it becomes 2nd nature after a while. I\'ve got a Slosh 30 and the 525 and I think you\'re losing out on using 2 great reels because you can\'t be bothered to thumb!! :o

If you drop a reel with a levelwind on rocks there is a far greater chance of it being damaged beyond use. I\'ve also seen levelwinds jam due to grit etc getting into the mechanism - you don\'t won\'t that to happen while playing a fish!

southwales, if you use nothing but a fixed spool reel you won\'t be happy with an Abu. They are far too slow on the retrieve mate.

I agree with davy, learn to use your thumb, a few years back i was the same used a level wind or fixed spool, but i bought myself a slosh so i had to learn to use my thumb and as davy says it becomes second nature.

i bought a abu 7000 witha level wind on for exactly the same reason( thought it would be easier in the dark off the rocks bringing fish in etc..)... but i realised not so long ago that my thumb was still thumbing away without me realising so theres basically no point! it also seems to hinder casting drastically especially if you using a strong mainline (25 30lb+) and the winds in yer face .
im going to find a way to remove mine! even if it does mean taking a hacksaw to it ! lol .
it feels like im only getting about half of the reels potential performance.
my advise would be to stick it out without the levelwind and over time youll get used to it. it becomes instinctive , nee botha!
