Smelly box

Has anybody experienced their tackle boxes stink coz mine does i always take the bait out after my session and clean every thing down but it always stinks

Anyone no how to get rid of the smell ?

You could try washing it out with a Bi- carb of soda solution ' It clears smells out of fridges so it could work , or try Jeyys fluid

It's a fishing box, mine stinks but it does it's job and I'd never bother with bleach or owt like that, just accept it for what it is. If you are that bothered about your box I'd hate to think how het up you get about your floatie by the end of the season

worth checking too that there no a wee bit bait stuck to the side/or bottom of yin o your boxes/tins/hinges etc the noo

Try using boiling water with either bi-carb, jayes, bleach, etc, and give the entire inside of the box a hell of a scrub.

But there's a simple solution to this to save all the hassle.

Carry a BAIT BOX with you and you put yor bait in so it stops stinkin out ya seatbox.

Al need is an old, smallish bucket with a lid. I use a Pirelli bucket which ive modified. I've placed two bits of wood about 5inches off the bottom of the buckrt and stuck them there. Ive then got another bucket of the same type and cut the bottom off that, which creates a tray that I can place on top, giving it two compartments, one for ragworm, the other for lug, or vice versa, etc, etc, etc...


A simple little thing that will stop your seatbox and anything you put in it from stinkin to high heaven.

if so just empty all the gear out and leave it in the garden

if you use bait elastic it could possibly be that,i left mine in my box for 2 weeks,opened the box and nearly spewed!!!!worst smell ave ever smelled!! worth a look mate!!

My fishing bud has an ingenious way of keeping his seat box clean and smell free, the cheeky tw@t always puts the bait in my box and always uses my cloth to wipe his hands
