had a good night down smiths for once started off by waiting at the marina for the builders to leave and decided to make a handline, so the first time i pulled it in i thought i had a massive crab but it turned out to be a flattie . people had been there all day and caught nowt so i had a feeling it was going to be a good night. we got on smiths at about 5:30, it started slow but after about an hour i got a whiting about 1lb then my m8 got another 5 smaller ones then a small flattie and then on our last cast my m8 caught a codling about 1lb, all fish caught on lug and mussell. we left at about 10:30 after a good night with the security guard to keep us company.

Nice one josh, afew decent whiting starting to show in the river now plenty of good coalies aswell, shame you weren't fishing the fish quay tonight because you could of been another person to outfish curtis.dunn .

hi i was fishing right next to you and i got nothing at all i was using rag worm .ive been fishing a while now and i carnt remember it ever being this bad .

Ragworm doesnt seem to be catching much mate, try something else to mix your bait up a bit.

Ok thanks I'll try mixing my bait.would I just put the crab on the hook then tip it off with rag

I would put the rag up the snood a bit and tip off with crab mate, remember to whip the crab onto hook with elastic bait wire. Sounds like ya had a good night Josh well done mate. Is the seaweed as bad on the north side of the river as it is south side lads.

aye ok mate yes i have sum elastic . yes the sea weed was bad yesterday. is frozen crab just as good .

aye it's the first time av caught from there since the dredging but i think it's stopped now

Yeah mate I caught this beauty last night on frozen squid and macky cocktail tipped with frozen peeler crab.
