Hi lads I'm thinking of having a go at making a hot smoker like the one in the article by KAYOS but am not sure as to how to purge the gas bottle, has anybody got any ideas before I blow myself up lol cheers in advance

Never done it myself, but I'd say unscrew the valve on the top and fill it with water, then empty it, wouldn't want to use an electric grinder when it's full of water.
