Hi lads,im up there soon but not for the cod this time, hoping to return to visit family in late december january time, the forum seems to be alight with whiting reports all summer,i know alot of lads will have thought about it but down south alot of doubles are taken on live whiting on a pennel rig with a small bait cast out and let the whiting take the small bait and do the work for you for that double ,something must be coming inshore soon when the north easterlies start blowing......if there is still a load of whiting about taking baits before the cod can get to them, mebbes a spare rod to catch a live bait may produce a pig, going to try it myself when im up,any ideas most welcome:D

Tried it a few weeks back of tynemouth pier. Got a stonking bite but what ever took my bait was big as i couldnt move it. Lads down devon and cornwall use spider crab for big cod. Also down dungemess they swear by live whiting as number 1 bait for big cod.

Suppose any bait if used at the right time and right conditions will catch a pig.
