Sokin SK3 or Ron Thompson Accelerator

Right, a question for you all!! Im back at chrimbo and fancy a second rod to back up my Kompressor with! I started fishing two rods when I was back in the summer, but my old Daiwa just aint pokey enough!

So I fancy one of the above to cope with the rough ground that I usually fish, but not looking to spend a fortune as I don't get to fish that often, but these looked decent for the price when I had a look in the summer! Also would like to load my 525 mag onto it and use it on the beaches.

Which one????

Cheers!

I wouldn't bother with either one mate, one's renowned for snapping and the other has no bite detection (to much of a broomshank)...

I have the lastest RT and find the reel seat what is supplied with it alright. Not as good as the abu real seat on my other rod, but it does me. Bite detection at first i thought was a load of ****e, maybe cos i never caught anything. But last weekend on the pier i find it pretty good for a stiff rod. Could still spot little whitey bites when them gusts of wind died off.

r.t.a proper rough ground rod

iv'e got the original accelerator & the bite detection is fine, would recommend to anyone as it is a proper rough ground rod. yes it's stiff but it's designed for heavy work..

how long have you been using the Accelerator andy2009? as i have never heard anyone else complain re. bit detection. i'

i can't comment on the SK3, i haven't got one.

Never had a rt rod so carnt say anything on that. But i have got the Sk3 14ft multiplier rod casts 5-7oz and comes with sliding reel seat, bought it at the factory shop in blyth when it first opened a few year back £109-99p. Used it on loads of the rough ground marks from Tynemouth to Craster and never had a problems with it. I think both rods are good value for the money.

john.

SK3 5-7oz is spot on 1 bought one when they first came onto the market and i,m still using it, i even bought another i was that impressed.

Well, picked up e RT Axellarator yesterday, seems like a good piece of kit! Also attached a reel seat and was hoping to give it a go today, but these winds have put me right off!! Lets hope they calm down a bit!!!
