i have used it for a good year without a single problem paul ,how the hell has the star drag snapped they are one of the strongest reels i have used if not the strongest ?? It puzzles me mate ??

Star drags are the only problem with saltists, they are quite fragile TBH. They snap inside due to trying to tighten them up full, once they snap the drag can't be tightened :(

Is that whats happened?

heard ppl saying this about saltist reels aint had any bother with mine still brand new realy lol. hardly used it over the last year. how do u no wen the knackerd like ie star drag gone?

I've had the same problem. I bought a second hand Saltist and the star drag went on me the first time out. Simple job to replace and working good as new.

I bought a 20 secondhand ,working ok ,changed line and thread stripped.Got a new one from Daiwa (about £15),went again without warning a year later, got onto Daiwa to order another one and they said they have a two year warranty on parts so gave me another one.
As far as I know this was only a problem on the early models,on the later ones the collar on the back of the star has a groove machined into it.Have had no more probs with other Saltists I have.
