has anyone on here got any of these rods i have 2 of these for my sons had them for about a year now and both rods have snapped about a foot and a half top section took the first one back to sonik and they said it was wear and tear due to resting on piers but i only fish beaches.so i had to pay £50 for a new top section that was 2 months ago now the other one has done the same has anybody on here had the same problem as i am not willing to pay another£50 :(:(:(

Yes, heard a few of the lads have had the same problem and i have actualy seen it happen a couple of weeks ago on the groin at shields, the lad only gave it a slight pull and it snapped around the 3rd or 4th ring down, i personally would not entertain them, swear by Conoflex Nemesis SLR, cheers

i wouldn't entertain them either because they are made out of carpet backing. they remind me of the imax range of rods which i snapped 2 of. i only trust british made rods because they use cheap carbon or graphite in the ones made in the far east !

ive seen more than one snap, i wouldn't have one for free. people say the greys rods snap but ive got two and they're fine.

I bought one and its been fine...saying that though i havent really given it much welly. Surely its must be covered by a warranty.

Snapped a ring on mine, after a fall on rocks....but took back to sonik to sort (£5.00).

Trying to win wife round to buying a Century or Conoflex from Santa.

i have an sk4 and it has been battered and bruised, but it still pulls fish in, whacks a lead and big bait out and rives rigs back out of snags and kelp.

i have not snapped it but i have seen them snap, i understand the issue peeps have with them being made abroad etc, but i have snapped one of m conoflex rods, the annubis plus, which is a way more expensive rod, stiff and better built, that thing went big style.

I would have a word with Tim or Tony and say that once you could understand, but twice is a bit of a let down and that it should not be happening.

I am sure they will come to a comprimise.
A fishing rod should not snap if it is being used in the correct matter, the excue of the railings thing is a bit of a let down, I have never banged my rod down against a railing. It has fallen off the tripod a million times, the sk4 in particularand i have not had anything go wrong with it yet (touch wood) and its a few years old now.

at least they talk to you.

i have been finding it a mega struggle to get conoflex to answer my calls about my snapped rod! lol

Cheers bozjc it was tony i dealt with last time think i will give them a ring to see what they say this time:confused:

I bought the 14ft 5-7oz when they first came on the market and its still going strong, was that impressed i have bought another as a back up.

I bought the Sonik Sk3 14ft casts 5-7oz when they first came out from the factory shop at Blyth never let me down use it most of the time, Cambois rocks , Lyneburn beach, Cambois Binns, Private Beach just to name a few most heavy ground marks had it about 3yrs good value for money. Must have got a good one.

john.

they have some sort of warranty u could buy on top of the standard warranty check out their site..i have had some friends stating they`re rubbish but some swear by it .....if i am not mistaken it is a similar blank to grx-s which apparently ar now made in china so that could explain quality control issues. having said that this could be chinese whispers....

hi jj we have two of these rods the 13ft 4to6oz and the 13ft 5to7oz had these rods two and half year now no snap as yet,but had problems with the rings which break easy we replaced the rings ourselves with fuji shock rings rather than go back and buy another section which was only 35pound at the time, these rods are nice to use very castable,i heard that the 14ft rod in this model is notorious for snapping,if mine snap i will not bother with them again i will stick with century.

hi all
thanks for the replies phoned tim today and after a bit descussion he is going to send a new top section out free of charge :)

Two rods snapping in roughly same place giving you a free top section....I think thats the least they could do.Obviously a quality concern with there rods they should of given you a new better class rod for all the hassle you've had with not one but two rods.I do love the old wear and tear excuse they give never seems to be the rod manufactures fault.

Unconditional lifetime warranty?

Every time you pay for a replacement section they are making money.

beware they are only trying to gain customer confidence.

Is it not better to buy a rod which has a good track record and is less likely to let you down
