Me and my mate Colin fished South Shields Pier on Tuesday night, we got plenty of whiting, dabs, flounders and pouting along with a few just size codling, all on ragworm from the SE cornor.

Best bit and the reason for this post is my mate caught a dogfish!! (2lb 5oz), I've fished the pier for 25+ years and thats the 1st one I've seen or even heard of. Two weeks previous to this I had a ling (1lb 12oz) from the small wall.

I think this what makes sea angling so good, you never know what might turn up.

Lad at Seaham pier last Wed night caught 3 dogfish, the netters from the pool caught over 100 on Tue so i am told, drifting over the broken ground.

Well done mate herd of a few ling off there biggest 4lb but its the first doggie ive herd of off there, but have herd ofa few off roker and seaham pier.

well done on the pier mate, doggies are regularly caught at seaham pier, not in huge numbers like over the west but they have been coming out for a few year now, strange that there is never any caught at roker and shields, untill now:)

Went down again for a 'doggie session' this afternoon (Fri 5th Oct), no dogs but plenty of dabs,
quite a few fishing the pier but no cod by the time we left (8pm).

Caught a f'ing weever, I hate the little cvnts.

Big Fred told me that someone had 2 doggies from the blocks a couple of weeks ago, I dunno about anyone else but I hope it's not a sign of things to come.
