South shields pier

Thinking of fishing south shields pier on Sunday. Does anyone know if it is open or is it still locked off due to the ongoing repairs.

It all depends on the pier watchman, if he wants to go on the ale to brighams he will close the pier, if he wants to fulfill his duties and get paid off the port of tyne he will do his duty.

we should'nt ignore the locked gate,but us anglers we do anything for cod.so climb round the gate i do ,go to the right side cos it's dry land down there other side a little dangerous ,good luck m8.

where did you hear that cos ive climbed that gate hundreds of times and never had any problems

I was at the first gate a few weeks ago and the watchman came up the pier and chased everyone off but left the ones fishing not much of a clamp down

Yer i climed round it loads also, the old words "you can stay on at your own risk but i have told you" always gets said.

The watchman is ok really, just doing his job and moves kids and familys off etc

The bloody pier has hardly been open this last couple of years, they seem to wisht o do work on it all the time, must cost an arm and a leg to keep it standing, i for 1 am happy they spending it, cant lose my fav coalie and launce mark lol
