Yer I must agree with Kev
We as anglers have got away with alot on Shields pier over the years, I mean I remember being aloud to walk/fish on the pier when half of it was washed into the sea and there was a crain working away a few feet from your rods.
The Port of Tyne lads have been good to us over the years, only kicking off the young kids when the gates close but I remember a time not that long ago when they stood and waited until you packed up and if you never, rang the police for trespassing.
Bottom line is we lose enough good marks in the area and the Shields council have been trying to stop anglers for a while now fishing the pier because of how dirty we are (summer time for visitors)
I just hope they don’t start taking names for being on the pier when the gates are closed every day as they open at 8.30am and close 8.30pm in the summer and in the winter its way sooner they close.
