Well lads decided on Shields today for some Mackeral fishing. Got to the end and fish were being pulled in left right and centre.
I set up with my spinning gear.. Took me a good hour to get my first. I kept on moving around and ended up with a dozen all filleted and put in coolbag for some winter bait to be frozen down.
It was amusing to see the supplies of Fosters lager being brought up. Lads with daylights were hammering the macky.......not my cup of tea preferring the sport.

Mick (ps tons of sprats and launce in water).

I had half an hour at the second gate area this evening and there were more sandeels in the water than I had ever seen before, literally millions. I took some photos but it just looks like water:(

I had my polaroid fly fishing glasses on and you could see in the sea on the seaward side millions of sprat and the odd flash of silver from the macky and launce chasing them. The fish I caught and gutted were stuffed with small sprat. Macky gorging on them - nee wonder there is some big fish.

Can I add, it was very nice to now put a name to a face! Nice to meet both fishingmark and mick dunn. Lovely day for the spinning gear, great sport to it was! :)

Were you wearing a brown t-shirt Mick, sat eating a sarnie on SE corner at one point,? I was the lad in the shorts and shirts next to you who had all kids hanging around lol. You mentioned the sandeels and sprats to me but I was wearing plain googles so only see the sun reflection off water.
