Species hunt help..........

Hello all, im doing a species hunt with a club from leeds and i would appreciate any advice on where i can get some sea species im not bothered about size just as many different types of fish as poss, i live in cramlington and can travel anywhere within reason also im a fluff chucker so any tips on tackle and bait would be tremendous, thanks.

alright billy , following the advice from the lads on the nesa forum (cheers lads) my first trips were down the tyne and with ragworm i caught codling coalfish whiting and flatty's all along the newcastle quayside 2hrs up to and over high tide . hope this helps you out, and good luck to you :)

If size doesn't matter, daft as it may sound (if it's allowed in the hunt) try the rockpools at lowtide down Seaton Sluice or between w/bay and tynemouth with some tiny hooks! Should be plenty of little blennies, gobies, butterfish, grannyfish etc.

One of Rick Steins prog's he was in France I think, was commenting on how weavers are just chucked by us and yet over there they're a popular food fish.

I heard the french eat peeler crabs too:eek:

danes eat weavers aswell, BBQ grill them with the skin still on. never tried it myself, and never caught one:)
