Spelo Technics headlamp

I think the battery on my lamp is on it's way out. The light output is a dull brown and not as bright as it used to be. I've tried charging it up after letting it run down to nothing. Question is , do I need to replace the battery or does any one have any suggestions as to how i can get some life into the battery (Nickel Cadmium). Cheers and Merry Christmas to you all.

The problem now is that speleo technics have ceased trading due to retirement, but good luck anyway.
