Spigot wear

I have a rod on loan to try out. Century C3LD.
I do like it but I can see it has around 11mm spigot left on it.
Is this too close for comfort. What is the new length?
Anyone got ideas on this.

wear

if you rub the spigot with a candle the wax will stop it wearing and 11mm will last a life time

I rang century with this dilemma and they said they make their spigots with roughly 25mm showing when together they can also re wrap the spigot for £15-20 hope this helps m8;)

Ive just had the spiggots rebuilt on a Komp ss and a G5 Super Sport from century in Washington at the end of feb. Cost £25+vat for the 2, £30 in total. Bargain if you ask me.

Like dave say's,bargain:).Use the rod n when it's to much play in the joint get a factory rebuild, can't go wrong with that money, shud last qt a while 11mm anyways, altho candle wax works a treat it is only a temp solution:rolleyes::)

I use the carbon spray, and when I do a spigot I normally get a season out of it,they recommend you buy the joint save/restorer to apply after the spray but in my opinion the spray works jst aswell on its own.

canny money making scheme though when your paying £300 to 400 for a rod and the spigots are only lasting a short while you do the maths mind a little prevention on a regular basis with some ptfe spray and you will get no wear and should last for years i,m busy building a old century rod and the spigot is almost as good as new
