Spinning reels????

looking for a new spinning reel, whats the best type to get ???

shimano baitrunner 3500 B is the best mate but they are a bit pricey. I've been lookin for a 2nd hand 1 for ages now.

I use a Penn captavia spinning reel which is a canny reel.

If its a fixed spool go for a Shimano. Cheaper models are still good.

Sorry Alan but imo whilst that Okuma is cheap it is also utter garbage. Had one, used it twice and binned it, literally. Thought it was that bad that I didn't even want to give it away to someone. And as everyone now says, this is just my opinion.

I've got an abu cardinal that I've had for donkey's years, use it for allsorts aswell as spinning. Other reel I've got is a Shakespeare, can't recall the model - got it in a combo deal with the spinning rod, also been a cracking reel.

i got a shimano and have had it years, it wasnt the cheapest but by god its lasted me longer than any fixed spool i ever had. i find fixed spools very prone to fecking up!

I agree with Alan Okuma undertakers are very reliable had mine for about a year and a half now use it 4 scratching,spinning,floating,feathering very good reel especially 4 the price i got 2 for 30 quid second hand. I also like the okuma interceptors great price and a great spinning reel, seen loads of people use them. Also shimano reels are top quality but rather pricey but you can get second hand shimano rather cheap.

...i find fixed spools very prone to fecking up!

can't see how...they're the simplest of mechanics you're ever going to find in your life...compare that to the inner workings of a modern multi - with it's springs, levers, magnets etc etc

But if you're going to buy a F/S, as with everything, if you spend a bit more you generally get a better product (not all the time I know before people start)
