I use a shimano beastmaster stc 8/9ft 14 to 40g which bought for going abroad originally but it handles everything I've used it for over here no probs. I use it up eyemouth and st abbs as well as places down here and I've had coalies pollock and codling up to 5lb with relative ease.

Cracking little rod.

Been looking for a spinning rod and reel myself ,take a look at Glasgow angling supplies they have some good deals on there!

There's lots of good spinning rods out they from as little as £20 I just need 2 try a few out in the shops now cheers once again lads, I appreciate all the info u give me

Don't do what I did. £10 quid rod here, £45 quid on there. I've got 6 "cheap" rods which must of cost me around £150. Made a point of buying a high end one this time so now i have 7 rods.. but only use 1 ;)

Being a "retiree" I do spend a lot of time spinning/lure fishing for bass over in Luce Bay. I used to favour the Greys 10 foot spinning rod and could not fault it.

Last year I tested out a Sonik SK3 2.75 lbs 12 foot carp rod for the whole of the season lure fishing for bass over on the MOG and found it a step up from the Greys.

SONIK SK3 12ft 2.75lbs CARP ROD: Amazon.co.uk: Sports & Outdoors

I find it very light and can cast with it all day long and I find it very powerful, far outcasting my Greys rod. The extra length comes in very handy at times when trying to bring in bass through weed/rocks as it gives you that bit extra control.

This is a picture of a bass I caught on it last summer over in Luce Bay.

Hope this helps
