Got down the pier first light this morning for a spinning session, one and a half hours either side of low water. Had nothing from the end for the first hour so moved down to the blocks and landed five mackeral. Quiet for an hour after that then got a coalie but lost it lifting up the wall. All in all a fun session and good to see the mackeral are still here. I lost a few spinners but that is to be expected at low tide in the shallower water. I have stocked up again ready for next weekend :red:

aye there where in ear;y and looks like there will be out late .stock up now for the winter if youhavent already.hard lines on the lost fish.

a few years ago me my mate went on to the steetly [R.I.P.] in the third week in october our target spieces was cod when we where half way along a guy passed us coming off the pier i asked him if there was anything catching he told me ,sure they are just started to come on ,i said what the cod, no he said the mackerel,he was right got the end and the lads where hauling them in, so there is plenty of time yet.

Yeah spinning is great fun , you get a good fight from a mackeral and they taste nice too. I'll be out for a while yet even after the mackeral have gone as there's always coalies and the chance of a pollack.
