is there any good spots for spining from tynemouth to whitley bay.i dont want to fish the crowded piers once the makrel arrive.should i use a light [carp]type rod or beachcastor with weight and spinner.any addvice welcome. cheers.
Just a light rod mate, a use a spinning rod but seems a lot of lads use carp rods and just stick a spinner on end with a swivel and thats u sorted best get down piers mate but if u can be bothered get up for first light before the piers chocka.
Spot on m8y!! i went to blyth pier last julyish around 3.30am and nee1 was on till around 5/6am then it started gettin busy every 20mins after.. spot on sun had me top off at 4am caught big sandeels n a few macs.. evening is also good around 8ish onwards.. till around 11 then its dark.
I use my 11ft bass rod nice n light also use feathers 6 at a time but only doing 3 feather hooks this season as too many greedy macs cause too many greedy tangles! i use 2oz up-to 4oz depends on sea/weather conditions.
easy luck on the hunt for macs cause their a lot easier then catchin cods..
