spinning

Hello mate and welcome to NESA.

Never tried this early in the season but it might be worth a go if you can find somewhere with clear enough water and not too cold to freeze your nads off lol.

Jim.

Hi mate welcome to NESA.
Worth a go but I\'d try up the coast somewhere, north Northumberland and look for some clean water away from any rivers, personally I\'d wait until late May.What fish do you intend targeting ?

depends where you are and what your after, now as for my \"I\'ll have anything thats going anywhere philosophy\"...

I\'ve caught on the west coast of scotland right through the winter, pollack/coalies, but found it improves dramatically from easter, my daughter had a 9lb pollack and I was getting mackeral first week of november last year. can\'t commetn on this year as didn\'t get up there in january, but did ok last jan

there seems to be loads of sandeels close inshore already, so might be worth a shot somewhere where nobody will laugh at you, I\'ll be at in scotland in fornight all being well,

Only thing I\'d go for is heavier lures 50-80g....

tried with a 15g spinner in F9 westerly once, never cast so far in my life, problem was it was landing 200 yards behind me

up dunstanborough way might be worth a shot, or if you can take the ridicule there\'s always the resident coailes off shields pier

Thanks lads some verry helpfull info ive only been fishing a couple of months and knew most lure fishing was done in summer but wonderd if there was any thing to be had in winter. i dont have a specific target species will have anything that takes. And im not to bothered about the laughs i mite get can only try and i mite be the one laughing if the codling arent biteing.

Hibbdogg
take your spinning gear to cullernose point mate (craster) and spin for pollack.Or even tery the castle mate.Yes you will still take fish from there on spinners

Hi hibbdogg, I can only say, wait till the weather warms up,and all the sprats arrive there will be nothing till mid june then it gets better, untill mid september. try and pick making tides instead of falling tides ,because[makingtides][tides that are getting bigger every day] instead of falling tides, [getting smaller by the day]encourage the fish to chase the fry close tothe shore. if i can help p/m me jim

Had a few casts off Filey Brigg today deep spinning an artificial sandeel but the sea was too coloured. Good day out though - and even managed a bit of sunburn!

Hi hibbgogg :D What are your target fish?? Well known for being a daft Geordie give away sort of guy. So give me a hook and I will send you a few of Snatchers Speciials to nail them with :D

You cannot buy these in the tackle shop because they have not been invented yet ;)

Giz an addy by pm if you want a few to try :)

Hi Hibbgogg, tried spinning up at Seahouses for about 4-5 hours last week and the only thing i got was aching arms. I would leave it till later in the year.
P.S. Welcome to NESA M8.

just waiting of a settled few days then i\'ll be giving the feathers a go from the small wall on shields pier, had lots of small coalies first week in may before and sometimes the launce put in an early appearance. be prepared to be laughed at trying lures / feathers this early from the pier, personally the ridicule doesn\'t bother me. i\'ll post the results when i give it a go.
