[Sand Eel]

Was going to fish further up the river last night but took my young lad to this mark. Fished using Blacks, Mussel and Mackerel strips. Had bites from the off, but first time using Braid and not confident with when to reel into the fish.
on the last chuck the rod tip went mad, felt like a good fish but lost it on the retrieve.
Does anyone know what the bottom is like here, felt like I was reeling in through kelp?

Hi,
Fished there a few times,
I think it's pretty muddy bottom, with lots of seaweed, always attaching to the weight as you reel in, making you feel like you're pulling a fish in,
Never had anything more then a few flatty's & very small codling!
Could try mill dam.. Haven't fished there for years though!!
I'm a walkway man!
ATB though!
